When this event was originally started in 2010, it barely paid its own expenses. Over time, and with the support of local sponsors (and the addition of the tournament raffle), we were able to take in a small profit. Instead of holding on to this profit, we have taken funds brought in from this event and donated them to a local charity.
In 2014, we donated over $1,000 to the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation.
In 2014, we donated over $1,000 to the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation.
In 2015, we continued to donate to a local organization. This year's selection (done by players) was the Bethany House of Northern Virginia. The BHNV was organized to help women and their children who have suffered from domestic violence regain health and dignity and become re-established in their community by providing temporary housing and support. Thanks to our sponsors and raffle donations (and all of you that bought raffle tickets!), we were able to donate over $1,200!
For 2016, we continued the tradition of getting player feedback and having the players vote on an organization to support. The tallies for each organization were very close. Farm Sanctuary ended up winning this year's vote. We are very happy to say we were able to donate over $1,200 again to the charity selected!

For the 2018 tournament we have selected the Humane Rescue Alliance. The HRA was formed through the joining of two incredible organizations: Washington Animal Rescue League and the Washington Humane Society. Thanks to our new sponsors and a great set of raffle prizes donated, we were able to donate $2,000!
2023 had our largest turnout ever with 25 teams! All of this excitement and continued growth also saw more people entering our raffle which supported our largest donation ever. Thanks to the raffle (and some generous donations) we were able to raise over $3,000 for Doorways for Women & Families, a non-profit that provides shelter and resources for domestic violence victims.

2024 wrapped up another maxed out tournament- 24 teams in 4 divisions. We had some new donations to the raffle (IDA cleats, Mosaic Theatre tickets, NuGo gift baskets, and more!). At the end of the day we were able to donate $2,300 to DC Scores! Their mission is a great one to support: "DC SCORES creates neighborhood teams that give kids the confidence and skills to succeed on the playing field, in the classroom, and in life."
